More Timing questions

Postby rbrettctd » Sun Sep 16, 2007 4:02 pm

Okay does 'to the block' refer to pushing the pump as far as it goes, rather than touching the block actually? Or does it mean the afc cover is close to the block? And for the back nut, do you just get on it with a socket and extension?

Thanks for fixing my timing stupidity. :?

I was able to get to mine pretty easy with a s-wrench.

At least on my motor the afc will get close, but not touch before I run out off room in the slots for adjustment.

To get any more advance you will have to move the gear a tooth ( or two as some here have done)

You mean close to the cylinder head, not the block. I prefer the $28 snap-on wrench to loosen ALL three of the 13mm pump nuts. I believe it is snap-on part number sp144.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I used a crows foot on a 3/8" ratchet and extension.

ALRIGHT!!!! Someone has taken my advice and done that, as well. If'n I had a Mr Sparky, I could heat and bend a wrench myself.
