Thanks guys. It's a lot of fun, and so far I haven't been pulled over for lack of fenders (knocks on wood). I'm starting to get the itch for more power though, and still need to install the 366 spring. All of the tamper caps are still on the IP  Not for long though.

Did the basic pump mods with the 366 spring a couple weeks back. Turned the fuel pin to the deepest side and turned in the power screw a bit. It really woke it up. Currently seeing 35 lbs boost max with egts rarely over 1000, even with the bigger injectors. I may look for a new fuel pin, plus more pump adjustment. Timing is still stock. I like the low end, but I may play around with it.

Also, this showed up in the mail:

In case you were wondering, not having the 1st gen space around the engine really sucks. It's a tight package, and real bear to get to the IP.

I am going to guess you built the truck around the engine?

Pretty much, but the front structure does come apart to service the engine/trans. I just recently had it apart for trans repairs.

Hey Y'all, it's been a long time since I checked in here, but I could use your help. How high can you spin a VE pump before its damaged? due to silt damage, my engine ran away on me a couple days ago, and it hit some HIGH RPMs before the head gasket thankfully blew. I'm guessing at least 5000 rpm. It was insane, and I thought for sure I was going to watch my truck burn to the ground after it threw the rods out, lol.

Asking to see if the pump would still be good on another engine.

I run mine to 35-3800 on a regular basis. Just to blow out the soot you understand. ;)
Sounds like you may need a finer fuel filter if you have silt getting in there.

I think my fuel filtration is fine, but I found the air intake boot to the turbo had a good sized hole in it about 800 miles into a Baja race. I have no idea how much dirt the engine ate (the turbo looked sandblasted). I'm attributing the run away to the lack of rings/worn bore and eating its own oil. The block is junk, I just want to know what parts I can keep.

Ah, sorry! I thought the silt was in the fuel system! That's too bad it blew up on you, most of the bolt on accessories should be ok, pump, starter, vacuum or hydroboost pump.
