I've had my truck for quite some years now and haven't really done much to it so far. A DennyT stage II fuel cone, 4" straight pipe exhaust and that's it. Having a kid pretty much put me out of the game for a long time (which is why I wasn't very active on the forums again until recently) but I want to build a competent truck and figured I'd start a thread for my progress.
What I'm starting with: 1991 Dodge Ram D350, Intercooled, A518, dual rear wheels, regular cab, long bed.
A few pictures from around 2008:
My goals: I want to have a reliable, daily driven truck that has plenty of power on tap. I'd be extremely happy with 400rwhp and 8-900ft/lb torque and I don't think it's too unreasonable. I plan on swapping the A518 out and replace it with either a Getrag or NV4500, whichever I can find cheaper. A set of 6X.012 injectors, Super HX40 turbocharger, low pressure piston lift pump, and a few other things.
I also want to paint my truck. I can't decide if I want to keep it two-tone or go to a solid color. I know I want red involved and I may go this route.
I think that trucks looks absolutely amazing and love the color, but I love two-tone as well. Paint will be of a low priority so I will have quite a while to think about it.
Right now I have an ASA intake on the way (birthday present from Dallas) and it should be here sometime this week. I'll get that installed when it gets here and update the thread with pictures.
I'm still working out some electrical problems as well and hope to have them fixed very soon. That is my top priority before any power is added because I want my truck fully operational before I mess with anything else. I'm having problems with charging even with a brand new regulator and relatively new alternator, but I'm getting the alternator tested to knock the easy things out first.
Any thoughts or opinions so far? I've wanted a set of 6X.012 injectors for a while and think they'd be able to support 400rwhp while still being small enough to work well with an HX40 and daily driving. I've never heard of anyone using that size injector but I want to stick with a 6 hole design and I think they would be great.
Thanks for reading thus far and hopefully there will be a lot of progress in the coming days, weeks and months.
