Don't think so, but could be wrong. It happened once before.

Well, I've done everthing i know to reduce the smoke and failed. I put in the .020 washers and bumped the timing more. Even valet mode didn't seem to help much. I ended up sending the 330s back. Chuck at New Era checked the ones I sent back and said everything was ok. He's sending me some 290s to try out. Chuck's a nice guy to deal with. I don't know how you guys are controling smoke with 370s.

I control mine with a set of 5" stacks!

Actually, it's only real bad when I get on it hard down low.

Stacks are nice, wish I had em but I haven't figured out a way to make them with a cab over :(. I liked the power I had but I didn't like being offensive everytime I left a light.

and this was with the afc lever intact?

did you try backing out the smoke screw?

if so do you want to trade pumps?

sounds like yours is pushing more fuel than kta's...

Mike, I just looked at your sig, maybe up grade to a stage III turbo. I have a stage IV kit with a 16cm housing. The IV is a big difference over stock, and the III is close. Both have a 60mm wheel, but the IV has a 6 blade wheel, and sits back in the backing plate some. GDS has you machine your backing plate, and HTT sells it in the kit. ($100 difference)

i dont think it is the turbo that is the problem

pulling away from a stop with light throttle, you are not going to have any boost with what ever turbo

maybe chuck got aarons 6x22's mixed up with mikes inj?

hehe

Yes

Yes

No

I really don't think I was pushing that much fuel with 31 psi boost

Pete,

The Gillett stage II = a HTT Stage III. I could get the backing plate done but I don't think that it would make that big of a diffenence.

Thanks guys for the help

Well I Think I might have found the problem. About a year ago I bought a fuel pin from DDP it came with a washer and spring. After hearing about softness of some of the other brands I decided to call them to see if they had any issues with theirs. I noticed that they didn't sell the spring with the pin anymore and I asked them why. They said all the spring did was create excessive smoke. I'm thinking at this point the pin is sitting way too deep in the stock position and I'm just dumping fuel. So even when I'm in valet mode its not doing me much good. I guess I should have checked it sooner. Chuck even sent me some smaller sticks to try out and I still left a trail. I think with a stock spring and maybe a little starwheel adjustment I'll be good to go. I haven't confimed any of this yet but will try this weekend when I get my 330s back. This has been a PITA but I'm learning.

Thank for the help..
Mike

mike, if the pin is starting off too low BACK OUT THE SMOKE SCREW

i doubt the spring is the culprit if you are driving with light throttle and are not getting into boost

Thanks Don.
I adjusted the smoke screw 2 turns early on and saw no difference. Maybe I need more adjustment. Basicly I saw smoke all the time unless I took my foot off the throttle. Leaving from a stop even with light throttle I always see a little boost and I could see a trail behind me. Doing 65mph with no boost showing and just maintaining speed I could see puffs of black smoke. I think the spring I have from ddp is weak and all it takes is just a little bit to get things going.
