I get some "blowby" appearance right after I do an oil change..... It's like it steams off some of the detergents. This can be noticed after a hg, because one changed the oil during the operatin.

Could also be that something in the coolant is clogged causing the overheating.

I'd sell the truck and buy a p pump...

If an engine builder told you to do that, he was looking for work and I sure wouldn't use him! Anything you ground off honing it it fell down on the rings and chewed up the rings and cylinder wall. A fine coating of rust from sitting is nothing and would have disappeared on the 1st pass of the piston. I think you screwed it up bigtime.
Plus it also sounds like the head gasket is leaking someplace too.

I have to agree with..........sounds like the head gasket is blown, still.

Did you surface the deck of the block and or check for straightness?

It's been so long since I've done a hg, this may be a dumb question. But can the hg move a little while setting the cylinder head down? When I did my firering job, I used the cherry picker to slowly set my head down..

Oil cooler issue?

If you want to cut your losses and dump it, let me know. I'd like to try a 4wd. I have a gooseneck and I pay in $100 dollar bills.

All i did was take light sand paper to get all the orange material from the old hg off

You could very well have a warped block or head.

He got his head re surfaced. The first time I did a hg, I used a green scrubber to clean the deck..... The second time I used a wire brush wheel in a drill (was told to by an engine builder), it seemed to work. I also had a leaking problem after the 2nd time.... I of course have o rings, I did about 5 re torques as you are supposed to. Everything was good til the first time I got on it and coolant everywehere. I re torqued my head studs to 135 and have never leaked since..... o rings can be a pain.

Cleanliness is important and YES BILL, the head gasket can move..... I have had this happen.

Anyways, I'm rambling. Things to check: cleanliness, straightness, torque sequence, using a good gasket, heat cycles, can't thing of anything else.

It had no thermostat and still overheated and pressurized the coolant system? You definitely have a bigger problem.
