Water/meth question

Has anyone ever tried sparying water before the turbo? Would running grain alcohol in with the water help? thanks

The logic I've heard on why NOT to do that is liquid water droplets hitting blades spinning at 100,000 RPM. Which makes sense to me.

Nitrous and propane are both fine if injected before the turbo, though...

I've seen it alot on turboed and belt driven turbo gassers. Alot eisier since you just use boost pressure to push in the mix. I havent heard of any problems from it.

i built a water system for turbo gasser 25 yrs ago

hooked it up just like that (squirtin right into the turbo)

it worked ok since at the time we didnt have the money to do it right

was just a windshield washer set up

but - with todays high pressure pumps, check valves, solenoid valves, etc, there is no reason to inject it there. its kinda like the nitrous senario - what do you want to cool? the hardware or the charge?

i want to cool the charge

Thanks, what about putting in grain alcohol in with the water. I need to cool it down like 200 degrees?

power makes heat

Theoretically... If your timing is really retarded, then a little bit of alcohol could help the Diesel burn better and reduce afterburning...

I think those conditions would be pretty limited, though.

Water alone reduces temperatures a bunch, though.

have not installed mine yet - still screwing around with the turbo and tuning (and the ex and the brake) (nightmare)

but from what i have heard... 50% methynol (if it is fresh, like race track fresh) will cancel out all the cooling properties of the water but straight water, once it is properly tuned, will cool exactly the amount you are looking for (200°)

i also heard that a 400 hp (first gen piston) motor requires LOTS of water to get the job done but they cant handle very much water under low boost conditions

will find out if all that is true one of these dayz...
