How to make it go fast

The big turbo needs to be big enough to supply enough air to build boost against the small turbo or you dont get any compounding effect and therfore lose the effeciency gains of running series twins. If you run 2 turbos of almost the same size you wont get a big boost number because of air flow, maybe because of alot of drive pressure, but not from performance.

What about the all the guys running dual S-300's? All they're getting is increased pressure?

I think most twins with two S300s (as in the BD twins) have two vastly different S300s. The S300 has many wheel and housing options; I think the BD twins use a small one (probably 57mm compressor inducer) on top and a custom-engineered S300 with bigger wheels on the bottom.

but how much bigger? i thought they ran a s400 on the bottom.
i would like to have 425-450 hp that i could do just about anything without having to worry so much about egts, so i thought about a hx50 on the bottom, is the hx 50 a viable candidate for a bottom turbo?

The bd twins use a 57mm and a 71mm wheeled s300. They are intended for limited compounding that is why they are designed to only run about 60psi max. The Hx50 is also most likely a 71mm so that would be a good choice for the power level you are wanting.
