Need new injectors

Postby 91bluecummins » Mon Feb 25, 2013 5:48 pm

Ok I have pods in my 91.5 and I'm tired of them the haze and the bad fuel economyand the black smoke every time I touch the skinny. I want to get a good in injector that doesn't haze much at all but is efficient and not destroy my trans which is pretty loose but gonna be fixed here before long but I like the power of those pods I would like a little more though. What size would be good5x.012 5x.014 or 6x something. I tow cattle a lot and I have a vgt turbo on it so how big should I go. And what brand for a good price. thanks

For towing i don't think i would go over a 5x.012.

It seems to be that for towing, not much can beat the Bosch 190 injector. It won't have the power that pods can produce, but ......

I wouldn't be afraid to run an injector as big as a 5x14, but everything else needs to be in play and tuned correctly.

What is more important to you...power, fuel economy, or cleanliness, egts?

190s are about the best for economy, cleanliness, and egts..... You can make more power with a larger injector but everytime you go bigger it will cost you in the other areas (when towing)

Well....how much power you looking to get? How much do you have your pump turned up? and how much boost do you want to run?

And whatever injector/nozzle choice you decide to go with, I can help you out with that.

okay well i like what the pods give me except the haze, smoke, high temps, and mileage. id like just a bit more hp but its not needed. my pump is turned a little over 2 turns on fuel screw, 3200gsk, dennyt2, valet switch which helps some on driveability. id like to go up from 40ish hp from the pods to 75ish. But i want a good injector that does not HAZE i hate it!! these haze till i get up to about 45mph. so should i go with 5x.012 or 5x.014 or stage2 ddp or what else

First thing you need to get rid of is that stg. 2 fuel pin. That thing will cause it to haze with stock injectors. The problem with the stg 2 is it allows almost full fueling at about 3 pounds of boost, meaning unless you have a very controlled foot and the perfect timing it will haze under acceleration.....allot.

Now saying that, the other important thing with haze is timing.... From personal experience timing has more to do with haze than almost anything else (if everything else is correct) on a turned up truck. Where is your timing now? Have you played with it?

Lastly if you wanted to go with a new injector, I'd recommend a 5x12 nozzle that is opened up (flow honed) to about 50-55lpm. That is about the same equivalent of a ddp stg. 2 to 3 nozzle but with the correct spray angle. A bosch 190 nozzle is going to be smaller and will possibly have better fuel economy, but won't be able to support the same amount of power.

Personally I don't feel there is much of a noticeable difference between vco or sac in a mild tuned truck..... And where? Meaning where to buy from? I like me as an option  but that's up to you.

ok well i have the starwheel all the way till its on the edge of the fuel pin like it would be stock.and the valet switch keeps it there. i only flip the switch if i wanna go fast!! the timing is bumped about 1/4 inchmaybe a little less.and the smoke screw is all the way up. how much for a set of those 5x.012. And is the ddps not the correct spray angle. i dont think i want 190s thanks

DDP uses 155.... and depending on what you want done with your injector and if you care if it's bosch or not...price would range from 350 to 600.
