ill skip a tooth and leave it at stock marks. then work from there i have until the dyno may 18th to get it all tuned in so i think it will be pretty good by then

Less timing, better spool, more torque, less hp, less usable RPMs.

so the truck is together. 78lpm 5x.014s studs fire ringed 63/68/.70 skipped a tooth and retarded an 1/8th. i ran a tooth skipped stock marks and the truck had so much top end it was incredibly fast in the high rpm range but had no bottom to the point where it wouldnt spool my turbo in lockup unless a was already at 2600rpm. backed the timing off an eighth and it gave me a pretty good range for power. im getting 45psi in all gears accept OD. for some reason in OD it stutters or surges and will spool slow and sometimes only spool to 30psi unless im already going 80mph it doesnt get full boost and acts strange. in third locked it still has only useable power in the top end. i dont know if i should run less timing for more spool and keep my max egts of 14-1500 a little lower with more air? I did a 4wd launch and i was going 80 before i knew it and i pulled past a 7 series bmw in a drag. any suggestions on the surging related to timing and spooling that turbo let me know

Too much timing for the load on the engine.....

This righ there gentleman is why I was talking about in the other thread about a boost regulated timing curve.

What are your rpm in top gear when your having this surge problem/low boost. I know that if I shift into I'd too soon with my tall gearing my twins don't male the boost they normally do. When I bumped my timing a bit more it helped cure the problem. And getting the rpm up helped out a lot too. Bigger chargers like rpm, especially as a single.

91'w250 with a new pump. This one doesn't chase itself around in a circle.

i backed my timing off about an eighth so im a tooth skipped and an eighth retarded. it helped alot with spooling. now when the converter is locked i can use some of the power but it is still all very high rpm power. im wondering if my turbo is too big. with the fuel im getting i should be able to spool it unless my pump isnt putting out what i think it is.

Timing spacer messing with you? Are you running it?

He's running one.... I'm thinking he is over advanced in the slightly lower than mid range.

Which ya, the timing spacer can/would cause this on some set ups..... I notice it.... idle and high rpm is right but mid rpm is over advanced.
