building a ve puller

Postby blacksmoking » Thu Mar 07, 2013 10:12 am

I am building a ve powered pulling truck, it is 2wd, but I mainly need ve support from you guys, i was planning on building a 14mm ve, but time and money constraints stopped me from doing so. anyways as it sets, I have a non-ic pump setting on the truck, I have 5x20 injectors, I have a fuel system I built myself (stupid pump I paid $200 for died). anyways First off I know I meed more timing, I'm thinking 2 teeth and if RC gets his timing spacer dohickey ready for production I'd throw one of those on it. how much fuel do y'all think I need flow wise? Pump mods are 354 spring, Denny T AFC delete, Throttle indexing, Pump backed off from runaway. the old pump was a 400gph Procomp capable of 25psi, I'm thinking it died because I had it drawing fuel instead of being gravity feed. I am thinking about a Holley Black to replace it, because I will need nowhere near 400gph or 25psi since I'm only running a 12mm correct? The shop I bought the procomp from hasn't replied to my email, so I'm thinking they aren't going to help. I need to get this truck going. I also Need a clutch, what would hold up to this? I want to get a dual disk, but can't find one for a getrag. Basically I'm coming to you guys because I started reading the threads here, and was impressed with the knowledge y'all have about these pumps, no other forums I've been reading go this in depth into the pumps. So I'm here to Learn from those who are much more knowledgeable than me.

Also this isn't my youtube account, my cousin recorded this video, and posted it. that's why the stupid Smoking real good is there. I'll link my account so you can watch my pulling videos from last year.

Plain and simple Procomp makes junk, their cylinder head castings are out of wack, their fuel system stuff is low quality, they are one brand I keep off of my street/strip car.
I would think you would need more fuel then the black is going to push, heck I've used a black pump as the stand alone pump for the fuel solenoid on larger nitrous kits with 5.5 psi flowing. Would an Aeromotive or maybe a Fuel Lab Technologies pump cater your needs better?
93 Reg cab LE 4x4 518AT, 145k and counting, pump turned up,Internal pump mods, Denny T stage 2, non IC DV's, timing bumped up, BD 40hp injectors,BHAF and me-built mandrel bent CAI,4" turbo back, Holley lift pump, new white with gold paint job, recieving more mods to tow the Duster and push this stupid WI snow.

Kennyspullingparts.com for a dual disc and why not just a fass pump or airdog? What turbo are you running?

I was thinking about this one, I didn't go with Fass/ Airdog, because I thought I could Build a better one cheaper, the Procomp threw plenty of fuel, but I'm not impressed with longevity. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuelab-Prodigy- ... 78&vxp=mtr

talked to Procomp today, he got my info, a description of what happened, and my Phone number. it's now after their operating hours, and I will probably not get a call back till Monday. I want to get it running again. I would really like to get my money back, or at least Part, and buy a different pump, I'm really eying a fuel lab, 200 gph at 25psi. I should have bought it to begin with.

I just got a reply from Southbend $1800-$2000  I meant to call Kennys pulling parts, but I didn't want to while I was pulling trailers at work. Too late now, will have to wait till next week. good thing is I should be working solid for a few weeks now. I tried messaging Dan on FB, but I guess I should call them or Email the company.

Pretty sure Valair just puts a diff. center hub in their discs and floater plate when is required

But if interested, there is a 1 3/8" input for the rag in the for sale section right now

Not in my opinion..... spending that much on the getrag isn't in my opinion..... I'd rather move to an nv5600 but that's just me. I would of done it in my RC but an nv4500 was what presented itself
