1 more injector question

Postby Deathrod » Thu Mar 21, 2013 9:09 pm

Tax return filed.......so I'm thinking about gettin me some sticks. If you do not know my car is 3200 lbs, does not tow and is non ic, running he351ve. My thoughts, 5x .14s at minimum, but would 5 x .16s be to big? As of now I don't run into egt problems, down the run I might build twins so I have to keep that in mind. Thoughts????

I look at it this way.

The more "raw" the fuel that enters the chamber the longer it takes to burn and the less "explosive" it is but the more "push" it has.

Now saying that a large 5x16 or 6x16 would work good in a large heavy sled pull style vehicle better than in a light car that requires a fast and explosive burn.

I like to think of it as when one hand loads ammunition. If you use a large heavy bullet (heavy vehicle) you use a slower burning powder that "pushes" it out the end of the barrel. When one uses a lighter bullet you use a faster burning powder.

This is probably not helpful at all..... but something to think about.

i'd go for 5x14's. not too large, but still capable of lots of fuel with a few turns on the fuel screw

Personally, depending on your long term goals and if you wanna use silly spray etc..

I would lean more towards a 5x12 size and open it up to that 5x13.5-14 size. You will need a fast burn as your motor will need to be a fast revving engine.

Your turbo is the correct one in this matter.... just need to add more fuel that can burn extremely quickly and be very explosive...... now head gaskets don't like this xtreme spike in cylinder pressures but it'll make you the fastest.

I would do the 5x14's, and open those up later if needed. Jmo, but the 5x18 I used to have were just as streetable as the 4 hole 190's i was running before them, with a properly tuned pump. Besides you dont want to buy twice, do you?

If you plan on twins in the future, I'd say go with 5x16s. That way you can grow into them if need be.

There is more to it than a lot of fuel.... In order to be fast with a light car, you need to have a fast/explosive burn....

Another question is why doesn't anyone make non I/c spray pattern? I know you can use I/c and run more timing, but what gives?

Well... they do, it's just the "marine" injectors.

I actually carry 5x12s and 5x14s with the 9mm shank for the non i/c guys. VCO only though.

DDP's injectors are 155 spray angle, kinda pricey though.

According to what I've been told they are still 155 and now are a 4 hole nozzle as opposed to 5.

Now, of course.... until I have one in my hand it means nothing.

I've heard conflicting answers. I've ran ddp3s and they were 5 hole. I talked with a salesmen at Ponci's and he said you mean 4 hole. It turned into a drunkin' argument over who was right. Lol. Got home opened the box and counted 5 holes. I was then told they used to run 4 hole, now they run 5 hole. Who knows for sure.

The wider and flatter the spray pattern the better as long as they are in the bowl... that said I have 5x14s and they are too smokey for a 351 ve, but I'm planning on some twins and I think they will be good for then
The lighter the car the less load so therefore the less boost so that would mean less fuel needed..... is that what you were trying to say RC
