Postby rabbit86_06 » Mon Mar 25, 2013 7:01 pm

I have a 1989 4x4 sclb. im looking to start doing some modifications further than what has been done.
when I bought the truck the pump has been tweaked only needing some timing added, aftermarket injectors which are needing to be changed, hybrid turbo and built 727.

My plans with yalls help.

PS intercooler
3" coolertubz piping

Sounds good, does the truck have gauges? (boost, pyro, fuel press.)

What are your power goals? Towing? Play? Daily driver?

Exactly this. We need to know if the truck has gauges, if not they are the priority (I recommend Isspro) and what the truck is used for. A play toy can be built entirely different than a truck that needs to be worked or daily driven.

Lift pump! Even with stock injectors, I could drag down a brand new stock lift pump. What lift pump depends on what your goals are.

More specs on current injectors and what kind of hybrid turbo will help.

Sorry guys on not giving enough info. I may throw set of glow shifts I have laying around for the time being. I'd really like a set of factory match. Isspros are nice I have of them in my 03. Truck already has air dog 150 installed.

Plans for the truck are dd/ drag strip. I'd like the he351 so I can later run s475 for twins. For as horse power no set goals just yet.

Far as info on injectors really don't have any plus they miss and white smoke at start up. I'm wanting to change them just not sure what will fuel the he351 as a single. The hybrid turbo tag is part wore off.

Too bad you have aftermarket injectors. The stock Non-IC'd are a great injector.

Just recently picked up a 6.7 block and crank for a motor project. What are y'all's thoughts far as keeping the 12valve head and just getting it worked over? Will it flow enough? Looking to do a p-pump and 64/480 twins once motor is built. Also may be converting my 03 2500 to a dually and manual. Will prob put manual valve body in the 48re and run it.

You'll need some machine work and a custom oil pan JUST to make that 6.7 short block work with either a VE or P-pump timing case.
I've dug into it in depth and it's do-able, but not "simple".
The cheapest way I have found to possibly do it is to use a 24 valve head (1998.5-2002) with a set of custom-built tips on VP injectors.

It's either that or custom pistons, which are 5 times more expensive than custom cut injector tips.

Only thing I have read so far is that need a special front cover that few places already offer.

Don't guess you and I are ready the same info. Could you give me some info on why custom pistons?

There were no ISB/D 6.7s created with a 2 valve per cylinder piston.
Since a 2 valve engine has a bowl that is offset, the injector spray will not hit the bowl correctly.
4 valve engines have a more centered bowl.
