messing with the timing spacer

so if i currently have to much static timing jumpped a tooth retard1/8 with the spacer added wouldnt retatarding my timing and taking a shim out give me a better timing curve?

With nothing else done.... when one adds an M&H timing spacer....

It gives one more advance, but also a quicker advance. As it "weakens" the pre load on the spring.

With what you are saying is.... your idle timing will be less, but your cruising timing may or may not be less.....

If you get carried away with taking out the shims, you may end up with some "Slack" in there that would allow the timing to well advance with just starting the engine, leaving very little dynamic timing range to work with.

Mine had no shims plus the spacer....... it did actually increase idle timing a tad.... and it advanced very quickly.
