5.9 Cam Timing Events

Postby mhuppertz » Fri May 10, 2013 2:34 pm

Anyone have the cam event specs for a stock 12 valve cam? I need to input those into PipeMax in order to calculate the ideal header length.
Thanks!

I was searching for these specs as well with no luck. Not necessarily all the events, but the basics like advertised duration, lobe lift, LSA, ICL.

I read that the VE cam and even the NonIC cam were "better" than other 6BT and ISB factory cams. Here is what Colt has on their website:

159/204 @ .050 .235/.263 102 LSA Stock 2nd Generation 12V 1994-1998.5
159/206 @ .050 .235/.297 107.5 LSA Stock 2nd Generation 24v 1998.5-2002

Not sure if 1st Gen cams are the same and 2nd Gen 12v cams.

Thanks.
I guess if I ever pull it apart I can degree the cam and verify the specs. Judging by that duration the lift is probably pretty low.

Lift at the valve on that 12v cam would be .411/.460 with a 1.75 rocker.

Without intake centerline and advertised duration I can't calculate intake and exhaust valve events. Wallace Racing has alot of useful calculators for this stuff. Simple no frills website.
