Injector data on DDP

Postby RCCUMMINS89 » Sat May 11, 2013 6:09 pm

Ok, so I received some DDP stage 2 injectors with very minimal run time on them. Customer had a shop install them, he wanted something different because of excessive smoke and haze...... a lot of white.

These are a 4 hole injector and are the "new" design from ddp. The bodies are also different. They have a single hole as opposed to the "x" in our bodies.

Took them down to my local shop and pop tested them. From our "eye" as good as that could be....... they are clearly a 145 angle, as they match other 145 injector's spray and look obviously at a different angle than a set of marine 370s we did right next to them. Once again this is strictly from the appearance of it.

Anywho..........................

Tips are about ( if not exactly ) 1/8" shorter than the factory injectors (6x9)........... they came to me with our stock washers (thick, very thick).

I swapped to the thinnest washers (215 washers)............. and popped them in my truck.

 unbearably clean driving around, the washers made a huge diff.

Power is very good for the amount of smoke, as I've got to jump all over it to smoke......which then it clearly dumps some fuel. Less power than my 48 lpm flow honed stock injectors, but WAY cleaner.

These are supposed to be 50lpm................. which proves (to me anyways) that a 6 hole injector makes more power than a 4. As they do not make as much power as my 48lpm injectors that I had.

Did you by chance wire gauge them to determine the hole size ?

I don't have a wire gauge. However, they will be coming out in about 2 weeks.........as I will be putting in my new 5x14 77lpm injectors. So I'll be able to do it later.

I'll have these around for a while as a "cleaner set" or I might put these in my dad's non i/c truck to see if he can gain some mileage.

Thats strange. Do the 4 holers at least feel torqueier down low?

Yes......... but I believe it's because they are cleaner.

They feel more responsive and in every way better than my old flow honed stockers (250k miles though) but wot throttle. I think a lot of that is due to the fact that they are giving a better spray, which could be because of mileage on them. Also I'm not sure if these are SAC or VCO, but I think SAC. If SAC that would also have something to do with it.

But the main thing is they are a lot cleaner, which is why I think it is torqueier.......... also SHOULD BE the obvious too, which is a larger individual droplet size due to the larger lesser holes, which would give you a further push through the power stroke.

Good review. I knew they'd be clean. My 5x12 ddps were super clean. As long as you had the afc tuned, and air supply, they ran awesome. When I went to my hx35/55 twins they ran so clean my truck looked almost stock out the tailpipe. Just way faster.
Would you say that these would be a good towing set? And how were you egts with you single??

I'll have to double check wot egts.

with as many injectors as I've had in, my cruising egts have always been the same (within 50lpm) the largest set I've ever had in to date actually ran the cleanest cruising.

*edit* - within 50lpm?????????? WTF............ I meant within 50 degrees.

Not the case for me. Lol

But my stock I/c, non I/c, 190s, ddp3s all ran about the same down low. Clean.

I miss my old DDP4's (5 x 13). I had them paired with an HE351 and the truck ran great.
