I'm vaguely following along, as I still dont have alot of experience with the inner workings of these pumps, to really understand what your doing.
But, it seems if you raise case pressure, wont you have higher chances of puking seals, leaking pump, etc? Or is this a case where you loctite that plug in place and all is well?

Doesn't factory ve settings have case pressures as high as 250 psi with the ksb energized? I think I recall 300 psi being seen, but don't remember if the case pressure regulator was adjusted or not.

Factory is roughly 60 at idle, and 110 with ksb energized at idle. IIRC, high rpm is at about 120 and 170 with ksb energized.

It has been a long time now, I'll re check when the engine is running again. I know mine, I'm at 80 psi at idle......IIRC I'm over 200 wot with ksb on.

Either way, I'm higher than factory all the way around.... even at wot.

I was reading earlier that newer vw ve pumps timing advance is both load and speed based by means of a small solenoid leak valve in the timing regulator. Is this somehow adaptable to our ve?

Supposedly this info is found in the 1994 edition of Bosch's Diesel Fuel Injection book.
