Lets say I keep my pump totally stock but...

Postby Diesel » Thu Jun 13, 2013 6:32 pm

Lets say I keep my pump settings stock other than pushing the timing up. I currently have a 16cm housing on my intercooled engine. What injectors would keep me at the same as stock level smoke (low smoke) but make more power? Would pods be more smokey at my settings? I just hate seeing a diesel idling and smoking or going down the road smoking. So key here is more power than my stock intercooled but same smoke level.

Man.....BTDT

I really liked my 7x10s with stock pump fuel settings, got ok to good mileage too. The m&h fuel pin I have was good with them too, till I turned up the fuel and then it was choo choo time.

Cougar on here has his in and he has no complaints,pm him

Now I have 215 HP p pump nozzle on 1stgen bodies and they are pretty clean with my maxed pump......if you pay attention and don't lug it. There's some changes fixin to take place with the pump tho.

I'm really trying to not turn screws on the pump or put In a pin. Thinking maybe this weekend ill advance the timing and see how I feel. Then maybe ill do the 3200rpm spring but I never really use more than half throttle so I doubt that will do me any good.

If you keep your pump at stock settings you can go up to about a 5x11 SAC style injector and not gain any smoke at all, however that will give you about 30-40hp worth of inj. at stock settings.

But here's the reality.

If you only want that much power gain, just go with a fuel pin.

As far as timing bump............ go 1/8" bump and that's usually about perfect.

Why you no turn screws?!?

Seriously, you're talking blowing ~$400 when you don't have to. Hell you could just grind your stock pin, gain power, and not be out a dime, but innocently tweaking a couple screws will bump you up and still be reversible/adjustable/free.

What about turning the fuel pin? I am starting to think you're right Taco. No injectors but instead timing bump, turn pin, and then if I think I need more I turn screws. Don't know why I don't want to turn screws at the moment - maybe that feeling will change.

If it's not in the best spot then turn away! You could also pull the little plastic spacer under it so it moves farther down the slope. Throw some grease on the pin and see how far it's moving, get an idea of what's going on.

Nothing wrong with turning screws, you can turn them back but you won't want to. ;)

Yep, I always recommend a few pump mods before buying the expensive things.

Just mild pump mods makes a HUGE difference in performance.
