What would a P7100, S357, 5x12's, and an A518 get me?

How to make it go fast

Bully Dog pins had an issue with it.

I once confused Bully Dog and BD myself.... Unfortunate for BD..... BD makes great products. The more I've been around them, the more I am impressed with this company.

Now, in saying that.... I haven't heard of any issues with the BD pins. But mine only has a couple hundred miles on it so far. Only time will tell with it. I hope they don't..... JUST the pin retails for under $80.

If it does fail my longevity expectations...... I'm simply going to have some manufactured with hardened steel.

They have a straight curved ( if that makes sense) pin. It's not a progressive like some others offer.

What I mean by a straight curve.... is like our factory pin.

Personally.... I like this style better, my fueling is more consistent.

Man, there's a few 94-98 engines in my area for 1250-1500. I am seriously contemplating this swap again. I think I could at least break even once I got all my stuff sold off, but it might take a year or five to sell the stuff.

I must be confused, do you race your truck or something? If it's just a driver that you tow with, what do you think the P-pump is going to do? All it does is fuel to a higher RPM. :?

I believe he is still in search for a cleaner more responsive truck.

Hell no, I don't race my truck. It's what RC said.

So he should be looking for a commonrail. I don't know that a pee pump will be claener then a VE.

It all depends on the turbo......timing.......and injector set up.

I think, and I do mean I am making an assumption. I believe he is just getting sick and tired of tuning the thing to try and make it drive like it should.

When one has larger than 5x11 injectors.... they don't like to be responsive "straight out of the box". Coming from personal experience....... it takes a tremendous amount of tuning to get things right. To top it off, to get things to drive "as they should" one needs to have PERFECT or near perfect timing... INCLUDING THE CURVE.

Now.....throw in another turbo and then there is that whole mess.

All said and done he has all of the stuff to have a sweet running tow/dd rig. But I too have been at the point and ask...."why go through all of this tuning?". When a p pump with a fuel plate and an s300g will do almost just as much?

Dang, you guys talk about me like I'm not even here.

Tell me how you tune the timing on a VE. The only thing I know you can do is adjust the base timing by rotating the pump. How can you do any other tuning of the timing?

One good thing about me switching to a p-pump is the local shop would know how to adjust it. The owner had a 13mm P-pump truck that was pretty damn fast.

 Didn't mean it like that.

Do you have any videos of your spooling or smoke when on the street and/or towing?

No, I don't. I would say the main part of the smoke problem is the transmission wanting to shift too early. and I can't seem to find a good sweet spot in the TV cable, either it wants to shift way to early, or it wants to shift way too late and bangs gears. If I manually shift it, it's pretty good. I really wish I could do a 6 speed manual conversion.

Anyways, what I would be aiming for in a P-pump setup would be more power from 3000-4000 rpms, keeping the torque curve in the higher rpms so more power is made there.

So.....problem is still too much smoke? And this smoke when you are spooling? Does it smoke at a sustained boost level.

Meaning, let's say going up a hill and pulling and at let's say 15psi and not accelerating...is it clean then?
