W/M nozzle sizing

Postby mhuppertz » Wed Jul 31, 2013 4:59 pm

I am finally getting my Snow Performance fabbed up, but was wondering what nozzles others are running.

I have one of the 625ml nozzles which is the largest Snow makes.

ive always ran 2 625ml nozzles. works well for me. keeps egt's in check and with a 50/50 mix, definate power gain. normally keep the controller at 70 or 75% on medium boost setting. with my new controller set to 100%, it causes the engine to buck.

Too much W/M at that rpm or part-throttle. It's trying to put the fire out.

I run two .625 nozzles on my mess.

Keep in mind, as I understand things, most nozzles makers are expecting at least 100psi at the nozzle for designed flow/atomization. This is AFTER figuring in the boost. For example: one nozzle fed by a 150psi pump working into an engine running 50psi boost leaves 100psi effective W/M pressure for the nozzle. Adding a second nozzle effectivly halves the pressure available to the nozzle(s).

it sure does. i had it set on the low boost setting and at 100% by accident once, killed the engine and locked the motor up, had to let it sit for a while, crank it over by hand till it turned free, then change the oil a few times. them little pumps can move some fluid.

I'm going to set mine with the nozzle(s) in the atmosphere do I don't hydro lock.

The controller I have is from a gasser and is setup for a MAF sensor. I bought a FAST GM style MAF sensor and am going to use that to send the signal to the controller, so I am going to have some adjusting to do!

My snow kit came with 2 #6 nozzles and 1 #4 nozzle.I put in the #6 using -20 washer fluid kicks in at 22 psi and hits 100% at 30 psi and the truck runs up to 35 psi. This made power and went through my 2.5 gal tank pretty fast and I could hear a knock.I put the #4 in and couldn't tell much differnace in power when the meth came on.I dug up a drill bit that would pass through the #6 but not pass through the #4 so I guess I made a #5 I set this @ 18 psi and max at 32 psi and it makes a lil more power when the meth hits,no knocking noise it doesn't make much difference in EGT's though. It will cool it a lil at first but then the EGT climbs a bit cause this stuff is fuel! and makes more power so the egt's will have to climb...

i had my nozzles close to the engine on the intake horn, when i first put the system on. last year, i moved the nozzles down the intake piping twards the intercooler. made a pretty good difference in how it cools and how much i can shoot into the engine. ive been pondering moving then too the intercooler piping coming off the turbo but i worried about pooling in the intercooler.

If my logic is sound you could install the nozzles pre-intercooler and not worry about it pooling if you make sure you blow good boost pressure through it. Also maybe set it to come on at just a bit higher boost

i thought about that, but i set mine to inject a little bit at low boost when im highway driving. helps out fuel economy. ive got a 7 gal. tank in the bed, ive yet to empty it.

The Snow kit I bought is a "universal" progressive kit meant for a turbo'd gasser. It came with 3 nozzles. I believe #2,#4, and #5.

I usually use the smallest but I have the next size up nozzle installed now and like it well. Although my 3qt tank don't last long with it . I hav'nt tried the biggest nozzle yet.

I plan to eventually use the small nozzle for being ran off the boost pressure and hook up a second one to turn on also if the egt gets to a certain temp.
