turbo housing

Postby tradtke » Fri Aug 09, 2013 10:17 am

OK so I just got played today and I'm considering buying a 16cm exhaust housing for my stock h1c. Is it worth it? How much more boost does it give you? And where's the cheapest place to get one?

As far as I know,it won't make more boost.....it'll help spool the turbo quicker letting it build boost faster.
It's a very worthwhile upgrade

I went from a 21cm to a 16 not sure if I seen much more boost, turbo lag was a lot less. if you have the 18 cm you won't notice much if any difference. I paid 50 bucks for mine I believe used.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I got the 21cm right now. I can't really seem to fund any under about 150 or 160 dollars.

If it's a stick truck I'd look for a 'gated 12cm housing off an HX35, drill out the divider, and enjoy some cheap, fast boost. Wouldn't give more than $100 for one.

If its an auto, find an 18cm and run it, they're dirt cheap and everywhere. No use paying ~$200 more for 2cm difference in area, like said above, you'll never notice it.

theres a parts HX on cummins forum for 150.

Edit: heres the posting http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/gener ... turbo.html

It does have the back plate with the elbow so you'd have to buy another one with just the flange. comes with new wheel and you can run your shaft\turbine. backing plate is the only thing you'd have to deal with.

That whole thing would be a significant improvement on your truck! 2mm bigger inducer, more boost/HP capability, decent price......you can't go wrong ;)

Should bolt right on and you'd use your own connections on your existing turbo

The exhaust housings on the h1c, hx35, and wh1c are all interchangeable. It's as simple as swapping them, nothing else to it.

Best bang for the buck is to find a blown up hx35 with a good exhaust housing and flop it on your h1c.

The HX is a great and cheap upgrade. I'd knock the guy down quite a bit on price. I know I only paid $80 for mine

I've heard contradictory information, but can't say I know myself. When in doubt, break it apart, measure the parts to be swapped, and reseal it up.

It's true, I've got an HX35 housing on my old H1c.

you need to swap the rear exhaust flange for an older hx. That one has the elbow casted on to it. Once you find the right rear plate or make one it will bolt right up.

The HX housings are the same as the H1c

the Hy's are different
