dyno numbers = disappointmet

Postby warhammer92 » Fri Aug 16, 2013 11:40 am

Well got my truck dynoed yesterday and was a little sad with my results. I ran with my 370 marine injectors instead of my 5x16s due to injector knock. 402hp and 867 tq. If I had healthy 5x16s I believe I would have made more. What do you think would be the proper injector be for best power?

You probably should fill out your sig in the user control panel to get the best responses.

Where does your power come in at? You might have missed a few hundred rpms of your torque peak. If you're running out of fuel, extrude honing those marine 370s will get you more fuel than what 5x16s in themselves will give you.

Aren't the marines only 5x12. I was thinking about ordering your 5x16 njectors rc

Marine 370s have a diff. pintle design than other injectors and therefore move more fuel than what a std. 5x12 would be.

A marine 370 can be opened up to about a 72lpm mark. A 5x16 will flow 74lpm, but of course in fluid that marine would be a little higher. Not to confuse everyone.

But Depends on what you want to do. That 370 honed out will make more power with less air, however the 5x16 will have a higher hp potential. IF, A BIG IF, we did a little bit of work to it. The SAC design in a those nozzles creates just enough of a bottle neck than a slight loss in overall flow is lost when compared to a marine 370. So it really depends on how much money you want to spend on the injector and what your goals are to burn it.

running a single 64 will be hard to spool with the "raw" fuel of that large of injector, but when it lights it'll be fun to say the least. As far as numbers go...........do you want to make a large hp/tq number or want a fast truck. That will depend a lot on where you want to make your power as well.

I'd like to see the torque graph to see the rpms when the 64 mm turbo lights off.

^ I agree, hp and torque are byproducts of each other, the more torque you're making in a certain spot the more HP. I'd bet you're just not spooling quick enough to take advantage of the VE's efficiency range.

64mm is still pretty small though, maybe too much timing?

Peak torque was at 2300 rpms. I had timing at 21 degrees I lost a total of 10lbs of boost.I thought it was the cam.

Torque isn't too bad. I like to see it at 1900-2200, but it's not like you missed anything to speak of really. Timing might have been just a touch high for the size of injector. but once again, I don't think it really hurt you.

So I stayed up till 2 trying find something that wasn't tuned right.I put the timing back at 18 degrees.and found I wasn't getting full throttle and had a slight boost leak from when I made my dual intake.small pin hole.boost is now up to 60 and it was only hitting 53

Does it feel stronger in that 1800-2400 rpm band? Utilizing all of the fuel in that range is what will help net a big hp number.

Pulls a lot harder.I think timing was the main problem.now i think I should hot wire the ksb and see if I have any gains
