Got her in and mostly hooked up

I tilted the motor and trans back to get a better driveshaft angle then I had before. I've still got some other things I'm going to do before I can test it out, I might work on it later this week.

Its ghetto fabulous.!!!! Only bad part is no safety, always afraid of the dog knocking it into reverse on the freeway.

Well I got it in and running on the jack stands, seems to work normal so I checked the fluid level and........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I took it back out cause I knew it was done. As you can see from the pan there was some water somewhere in it, my guess is the pump, didn't find any when I put the shift kit in. This sucks but is also a good thing, forces me to not be cheap and rebuild it, so I have the parts for a full performance build coming (minus shafts).

So much for my Craigslist score.....my $300 tranny is getting expensive, gonna need some of this.....

Just change the fluid and try it again. I wouldn't go thru a rebuild until I tried to flush it out, especially if it works ok. Did you put the heat exchanger on it? Maybe that's leaking.

And what's the Jack with the green label? I've only seen the black label, but then I haven't bought any in 6-7 years, my friends keep me well stocked. ;)

I flushed 5 gallons through it and that was the aftermath. Water ruins the paper clutches, if you look closely there are chunks in the pan. I really don't mind rebuilding it, piece if mind, I'd never really trust it after having water in it. I pulled the pan of the 518 I rebuilt a few years ago I and it was perfect, just a little fine material on the magnet. That was the first trans I ever rebuilt, this will be the second. I know a bit more now and I'm not in a big hurry this time, parts should be here today or tomorrow.

Oh ya green label jack is only sold right around the distillery, it's from the bottom middle of the aging house where it doesn't age as fast or something like that.

Oh, I see! I watched a show on how they do that, the bottom middle has the least climate change so it ages slower. They actually rotate most of it thru the building so it gets aged evenly. I guess the stuff way in the top is pretty good, it'll wake you up some. ;)

Got my parts and ripped her apart

Then buttoned her all back up with alto reds and kolene steels and some other goodies.

I found out where the chunks were coming from, the od section was toast, clutches were stuck in the case, ended up using my 518 od and just rebuilding that one.

Waiting on tc to come then I can try again!

Got the revmax tc in today. When I ordered it the guy said it should be around 400 rpm lower stall then stock. My hopes are that it will stretch the gears out a little bit so I don't run through the first 3 gears in about 4-5 seconds. Just need to find the time to put it all back together and hope I got the rebuild right.

That looks pretty sweet. I think I'm going to go with a revmax 850 in my 4th gen. From what I hear it's quite a transmission. I hope you have good luck with your trans. You certainly have a wicked car

Well I finally got it running the other day. I had some issues with the overdrive that took me forever to figure out, almost pulled my hair out. But lock up is nice....I can cruise down the highway at 1200 rpm and about 1700 rpm at 80 on the freeway. Even with a much better TC then stock lock up still lowers rpm around 150-200, i cant imagine how much the stock was not "converting" the power.
