Pffft.... Now I am even more jealous of your car. It'll be a blast with lockup. Locked in OD at 2800 rpm would probably be downright scary!

I could only imagine.

He is running as much fuel as I am (well close anyways), more air, and weighs half as much.

I know I about piled my mess up today.........AGAIN. If I jump on it in 3rd, it'll be completely sideways in short order.

OD at 2800 now would probably be 120 mph or so.......and I'm sure it's slipping like crazy.

My plan is to collect all the parts and swap it out when rainy season hits, but I already have most everything I need coming. It's gonna be hard to have all the parts just sitting there taunting me, in the mean time ill just continue to try and break the 518, 2 years and its holding up to my abuse.

Well today I started. I managed to get it out by myself, which is a pain because it has to come out from inside the car. I've got a list of other things I'm going to do while she's down, along with things around the house since I just bought an 800k fixer upper  .........gotta love California.

In the past couple of months I've installed a shift kit and adjusted the bands so hopefully the tranny works. I hope to have it going again in a few weeks. I plan on moving the motor forward about 3/4" to make up some of the extra length of the motor plate, so I'm sure I'll run into some other problems that will cause, but it needs to be done to fit in the tunnel and I won't have to shorten my drive shaft that way.

I see a lot of folks from the California area come up to North Idaho. It is common for it to go like this " I worked a normal job in California and never really had access money, but I put my head down and paid off my house. I was then able to sell it and move to Idaho, buy a house with cash and find a minimum wage job that I can enjoy. I survive off of that and have 500k in the bank for a rainy day."

It's not all bad being able to survive in a seemingly expensive area. It can allow one to retire and be very far ahead in the end.

Got the 2nd gen motor plate and starter in. I was worried about the starter fitting after reading all the 47rh swap threads and how it gets close to the frame, but my set up has more space. I didn't realize how different the 2 starters are.

Here's a 1stgen and 2ndgen flex plate, most threads seems to say you need a 2ndgen plate, but they are the same.

Please don't tell me you are putting a stock flexplate in there!! I bet you'll be pulling it back out within a year.

X2! You need to upgrade to the 3rd gen flexplate, it's solid, no cutouts. It's better than the ones you have there.

PS, it will start better if you tighten those wires. ;)
