I figured something happened cuz it sounded like it just lost the load on the engine all a sudden and spun a couple extra thousand rpm :evil:

yeah that sucks. i have seen videos of his truck pullin and he damn near drags it off the track every time
92 w250, NV4500, D80, maxed pump, AFC gone, extended fuel screw, more to come.

Yes no load it will. Under load is a different story. I'm not sure how high KTA has had his under load/dyno though. Mine has seen 4k on the dyno.

i wonder if that is because the vane pump is done at that point?

what would happen if you had a mech pump keeping the case pressure above 150?

then there are the cam specs - 5000 rpm should have totally different specs than a 3000 rpm motor

I've read somewhere that the upper 40s is it for the VE in VW applications, which flow much less than the Cummins applications. I think that is still waaayyy too fast for a diesel.

That's not a sign of too much. That's a sign of the motor having too little.
