Anyone here running the Mallory Fuel Pressure regulator?

Postby The_Head » Sat Dec 07, 2013 9:09 am

I was wondering if you had problems with the adjustment changing over time. My fuel pressure gauge hasn't worked in over a year. For some reason it started working again last night, which is beyond me, because it was 10 below zero at the time. Anyways, I'm only showing 6 or 7 psi. I had it set for at least 15 psi. So, maybe thats why it hasn't been running so great. Could I be losing some timing advance due to low supply pressure?

I would expect that it would be normal for your fuel psi to read low in very cold weather.

Our fuel is very thick and therefore your fuel pump won't pump as high of a psi.

I know on my piston pumps, when it is really cold they show 2-5 psi low.

Where is it mounted and what kind of pressure gauge?

I ask because on my race car i have it mounted under the hood and a liquid filled gauge, the liquid fill is a mistake underhood. I was chasing my tail always re-adjusting the reg when it was actually the gauge misleading me. Drain the liquid and its rock steady.

Thanks guys.

It is mounted on the fender, my FP gauge is in the cab. It is an Autometer unit. I'm gonna have to add it to "the list" and mess with it this spring.
