p-pump identification

Postby warhammer92 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 10:51 pm

I traded all my ve stuff today for a p-pump. The three numbers are 906. Anyone know which pump that is

The 160/175 pumps without a lot of internal modifications seem to max out around that 350cc mark. That includes the normal of fuel plate, afc mods, racking the barrels, etc....

350 cc's at what rpms? We've seen some VE's do that much fuel, but we all know they peter out, as you spin them faster.

The highest I've ever seen a 12mm go is 330. And that is if you use a test bench that utilizes MASSIVE injectors.

That p pump cc is using std. nozzle outputs on a test bench (I don't know what that size is), but I know that a maxed 12mm ve usually puts out around 275 on those test benches.

Now... the key to utilizing high cc output in the upper rpms in a 160 p pump is using very high inlet pressures (think 40-60+). And then lastly the 160/175 p pumps have an issue due to their camplate design... this is also why they require massive timing, such as the ve does. BECAUSE OF THEIR LOWER INJECTION PRESSURES (still higher than a ve though). Also, this is why they need large injectors to make power....much like the ve does.

The pump has a hundred plate in it now.it already had 3200gsk installed.I plan on doing the delivery valves and possibly changing out the camplate.what would I have to do to use a 215 camplate

Not sure... starting to get into a realm of me not knowing. IIRC the plungers are different between the pumps, but again now sure. So, I don't know what is involved in just swapping cam plates. IMO if one is going to tear the pump down that far.... might as well go all out and custom everything.

I'd pm BPonci over on Cummins forum or Comp d. Brad knows IMO more about these pumps than anyone out there. There are some pumps that are ag pumps, etc... that literally aren't worth a terd.

Brad has done 2 of my buddies pumps, when they went away from ve pumps. He is really affordable and can get a ton of fuel out of them.
