A Newb Question

Postby grinnergetter » Wed Mar 19, 2014 6:13 pm

I've looked at enough swaps to make my eyes bleed and no one ever mentions too muchabout power comparisons. I have a 73 F250 with a mild 460 running 35's and 456 gears. How does a 300 horse 1st gen compare (power wise). I never got to drive my donor for my CC project.

I know the Ford is a geary setup but still wish I had built a stronger engine.

Appreciate any replies, Grin

I don't know about your 460 but my Cummins in stock form was twice as much motor than any gas burner I've had. There is one problem tho.....in stock form it's all down low,but with a gov spring a world of potential opens up for higher rpm power. You will throw rocks at that gas motor ;)

Ellis nailed it. I had a Ramcharger I thought ran pretty good (for a stockish 360). Then I bought my first cummins. More power and more than twice the mpg. Turn it up a bit, you wont be dissappointed.
