you are

lol

tubing is always measured by inside diameter

4" 16 ga tubing is 4.0 - (2x.051) or 3.898" on the i.d.

the ends of a pc of tubing (or mandrel bent u-bend) can be ordered either id or od

od od butts together where id od forms a slip joint

Vinyl tubing is measured by outside diameter. Rubber hoses are inside diameter. Pipe is inside diameter.

the purpose of this thread is to worn others (that are into high hp ve trucks) not to get sucked into buying a pac brake

You kind of jump to conclusions awful fast don’t you? I had a turbo mount Pac on my pickup for 4-5 years before I put twins on. I used it with my stock H1C and then I had an adaptor plate on the back of my HX40 so I could still use it. So I went from 4” off the back of my HX40 to 3”. The brake worked awesome and I never had any problems with it. I made 440hp on #2 and 530hp with the help of water/meth. Was it restrictive yeah, but it worked. I still got 20mpg on the highway and 16 in town and running up and down the mountains.

I just have one question for you. Did you ask Pac Brake the inside diameter before you bought it? No you probably assumed that it would be 4” id. I think we all know what ASSUME means?

Just for kicks maybe you should do some testing before opening you mouth too far. Test both of them and then report back. Don’t bash one without even trying it. I have heard that Pac Brake works better on Cummins than a BD does and BD works better on a Powerstroke than a Pac Brake does. On a Duramax it was about a toss up. This was from a reliable source that had done some testing with both products.

sorry don i meant clamped i have never tried it out but i know people with them on motorhomes and they say it works great. hey if you want to stop without usin your service brakes i have this big goofy electronic hill brake from a goshen bus. It mounts inline of the drive live and has two bigass dish with like 20 little brake pads i think its called a tilmer brake? i know if you nail it at 60 the bus will almost fly off the road lol.

jeremy, i didnt assume anything

the brake is not 4" and it is restrictive, just like you said it is

i spent a lot of time and money building a down pipe that will flow (as in you can roll a 3.900 ball thru it) and that is why i want a 4" brake

tj saw this thread and contacted me yesterday, he said he is going to see what he can do

don

ps - this is not my first brake jeremy. this is my 4th. one of them i didnt try (4" bd) and the other two were both pac clamp to the turbo style units. one of them worked better than the other but they both worked very well. i didnt care about flow then but i do now

no, i asked them for a 4" brake

if someone asks me to build them a 1/4 stroker and i ship them a 1/8th inch stroker they are gonna be pissed

if i advertise a .700" lift cam but ship a .600 cam they are gonna be pissed

if i bought a 4" ex system and it was made out of 3.5" tubing - i would be pissed

that is what i was saying in my tdr thread - no need to step right up to 4" if you are running a stock turbo

for drag racing we use stepped ex

for optimum flow the i.d. of the tubing would increase at 4° increments

but using those numbers it would be 2.5" at the turbo and over 6" behind the tire

one thing is for certain - the hot ex gases are expanding so you dont want to neck it down anywheres down stream

that turbo's on there

been on there for months

the ex system isnt finished tho...

still waiting to hear back from pac

got smoked tonight

dont know if it was gasser or duramutt but he pulled me for a split second then got off the frwy

my dumb ass was cruisin along in 5th over @ 1500 w/o the ksb activated when he pulled up on the right of me and nailed it

i rolled into it (fogged the guy behind me), hit the spliter switch, but straight 5th was still too tall and it didnt go anywheres

hate it when that happens...

ESPECIALLY NEXT TO A CHEVY
