OPeration - "guaranteed to blow up"

Postby RCCUMMINS89 » Tue Apr 22, 2014 8:26 am

Ok, just because I need to see for myself that it can or can't be done..... just ordered a 14mm h/r.

My THEORY says that.... if one sets the pump up right, it can be done on a daily driver with relatively small injectors (small for a 14). While maintaining higher injection pressure and thus a better driving truck that makes more power on the same, or less, amount of fuel.

However, I do expect it to blow up..... but we shall see

Like usual, I'm jumping the gun on putting up the thread... as I just ordered it, but let's hear what y'all have to say.

As long as you have a spare pump have fun. More pictures this time would be appreciated. Even if you just email them to one of us, and we'll post them for you.

I want to order one sometime too, so anything learned here will be helpful

Sweet, hope you have it done in time to dyno in June. Do you have a primary laying around to make use of all the extra fuel?

What size sticks are you planning?

My 77lpm sticks (5x17 ish size)... very small, hence the "blowing up"

No primary yet, I honestly don't plan on utilizing anymore fuel than I have now. I am simply hoping that I can utilize the larger h/r assembly to increase injection pressure, thus allowing for a over all better driving set up.

Ever think about opening up the return (overflow) fitting/ banjo bolt thing. It should help with cooling but at what point will it effect the case pressure?

So are you planning on running the pump further from runaway than you are now?

Yes, I plan on eyeing my case pressure gauge and setting the pump so that it is approximately moving the same amount of fuel... however, due to raising injection pressure and thus needing less air per cc of fuel... will drive better and make more power. This of course all depending if the thing doesn't blow up on the first run.

They are on a 14mm h/r (unfortunately)

If my logic is right running the pump turned down like that should help the pump live with the smaller injectors. I'm curious if you'll be able to keep your dynamic timing with the extra inlet pressure

Sure.... I have yet to see my case pressure change from changing inlet pressure.

I'm excited to see this! I'm sure it will/hope it all holds together. It's to my understanding that more fuel pressure and cool fuel are your friends when doing this.
