Injector flow rates\hp ratings

Postby DodgeFreak » Fri May 30, 2014 10:33 am

I seen a set of injectors that supposedly flow 48lpm, the nozzles I bought are DDP stage 4s 5 holers. (I haven't had them verified, checked or installed) The 48 lpm they said they should be good for 100hp?? That seems high. are the 48lpm really good for 100hp? According to the chart in the sticky stage 4s are 55lpm stage 3 are 50lpm, whats the stage 3 and 4 good for? I read someplace that the stage 4s is an 80hp. But I can't find any proof.

New ddp stage 1 are 45lpm
ddp stage 2 are 50
ddp stage 3 are 55

THE OLD ddp stage 4 are 55lpm.

On numerous occasions 55lpm has made in the low 400hp range. I made 414 with 47lpm injectors.

Stock I/c injectors are 40lpm - good for 300-325hp if all is right.

45lpm is good for 35-375

50 is good for 400

55 is good for 425-450

These numbers is what I've seen at the highest that I've found recorded.

so how would they be rated?? Most rate the injectors as 40,80,100,120 hp injectors Are those ratings just potential hp ratings from stock hp ratings?

That "lpm" rating is for air?

Correct....lpm is air. CC would be fuel, and I don't have a put together ish list for that..... it's not common enough for 12 valve injectors to be flowed in cc. Therefore, I'm not familiar with it as much.

The 40, 80, 100, 120 ... is made up, who did it? Beats me. But it means absolutely squat. Especially considering most "40hp" injectors are smaller than stock... and then a 5x12 is considered 90hp. But they are also supposedly the "hp gain over stock". But again, it is completely made up marketing poopy that just makes customers feel warm and cuddly about buying an injector.

It is also a cross reference over from what most companies used to come up with for early p pump engines... thus why a 215 injector is commonly called a 30-40hp upgrade as well... obviously it's not for a 215 engine, but companies don't tell you that part.

To add something though... DDP has it about the closest..... A ddp stage 3 is considered a 150hp injector.... though a little liberal, not much. Stock injectors can pull off 300, where as theirs can pull off 425 ish....

Other than that.... 5x12 are usually considered 90, 5x14 are considered 140, and so forth.

stock I/c - 40
non ic - 45
215 tips - 42
5x11 - 44
5x12 - 51 (370s, which are larger flow 55)
5x14 - 66
5x16 - 76
5x18 - I've forgotten
6x16 - over 100, about 105 ish

so, as long as these are actually stage 4, 5 hole injectors, they are basically a 370 injector. are they like a 5x12.5?? I really need to get these set up and flowed.

The 5 hole DDP stage 4 injectors (if they are in deed a 5 hole, most of the "1st gen" ones are 4) are basically a marine 370.

these are for sure 5 hole. But can't read any numbers off of them. So the only way to know would be to have them flowed.

Are you wondering if for sure they are a "ddp 4"?

Short answer Yes.

Longer answer: I was wanting\want to know if they are a ddp 4 and how much hp I could make with them....

also I was confused when I seen someone said, that the 48 lpm injectors were 100hp injectors but then someone said the ddp4 were 80hp but flowed 55lpm.

Just goes to show how that the "hp" rating isn't scientific. If someone wanted to get technical, and realistic... a 55lpm injector would be about 150 over stock, at its maximum potential.

In the end, people like to feel good saying that they have an "x"hp injector. It sounds better than saying a 5x"X" or a 6x"X".

It took me forever to move those 6x11's because I wouldn't label them with a hp number....but once I did they were gone

"50 hp". They were honed to 50lpm. No one gave a rats behind about that nor understood that. All they wanted to know is what "horsepower" they were. I finally gave up trying to explain, so I called them 50hp and they sold pretty fast.
