I put 3" shoes and Chevy wheel cylinders on my truck, they still sucked.

Then I put a 2ndgen hydroboost on it. Brakes are buckwild now. I intend to do it to any other 1stgens I aquire from now on.

I did the 3" shoes and larger wheel cylnders, it brakes better but the rears will lock up quicker in a panic stop. My old chevy had hydroboost and they worked great but can be dicey in cold climates as it doesn't take much to lock up all 4 because they have a much higher force applied to the brakes.

New master cylinder, brake booster, and calipers/cylinders. Those alone helped every truck I owned. Mainly the the master cylinder.
