Realistically, four to six weeks to finish the entire adventure (+/-). This down-pipe WYE mess should pretty much complete all I can do off the truck.

Then remove the existing S362/HT3B and associated plumbing, then temporarily install the new mass so I can complete the supplemental support bracket, then complete the new 5" back exhaust, then complete the cold-air intake plumbing. Somewhere in that: Relocate the engine lube oil filter, windshield wiper fluid reservoir and HVAC cooling receiver-tank. . . . . . . and all the crap that goes along with it.

If I take the time to think it all out, the time to fabricate, assemble, disassemble, reassemble, . . . . etc. I shouldn't have to constantly mess with it afterward. After all, if it works the way I like to think it will, I won't have time to mess with it as I'll be fixing stuff the additional torque breaks. DOH!

Hopefully it goes smoothly. I was just reading your transmission build thread over on DTR earlier. Gathering as much info as I can before I tear into mine.

Your twin kit was it for a second gen originally?

Twins kit stuff for 1st gens is from PDR.

My "Original" Twins was that box of parts (w/HT3B/26), from PDR, that when added to the Hx35-Hybrid/14 I got from them earlier, makes their Stage-1 Twins kit.

Jet-Hot coated all the hot stuff (it failed within 90days, warranty redid it, and that again failed within 90 days. Screw Jet-Hot).

This pic is toward the end of the install, in August, 2008.

Bigger squirters later had me replace the Hx35-Hybrid, with the PDR S362/65/14 thus making their Stage-4 kit. That's what's being replaced now.

For what it truly is (Dinosaur HT3B primary technology), this has been a very good, inexpensive (all things considered) setup.

In this pic, the Jet-Hot has been replaced with that product from Carolina Coatings, Raleigh, NC . . .

While I'm confident I'm well in the Ball-Park, . . . . . building this mess to fit the truck, without being in the truck, . . . . . is a challenge in itself.

Tonight, after MANY trips to the truck, tape-measure in hand, I had to get the 5" section of the down-pipe positioned so as to pass under the cab, at a sharp angle, and miss the trans bell-housing/truck frame, compared to the existing HT3B down-pipe shooting straight down, and then, have the two primary's DPs hit the ovaled 5" right.

Got the bottom primary's DP into the 5".

Yee-Ha!

Got the basic down-pipe WYE done. Got a small dent or two in it as I'm limited on stuff that'll hold 5" pipe weird ways. Still gotta tie in the top primary DP.

Thanks. :)

Got the main down-pipe assembly welding completed. Still need to do a bit of cosmetic grinding.

I need to get some engine block freeze-plugs to replace the OEM units, . . . . . .. can't just change the oil.

Looks nice David. What are your plans for the PDR twin kit?

Thanks for the kind words folks.

I reckon I'm gonna sell the stuff and recoup some of its value. Heck, I've still got the HX35Hybrid/14 laying on the floor of the shop. Gotta do something with the 16x10 rims. :?

It's cold and rainy at the moment (33* falling to 31*). Gonna be 50* tomorrow. 72* Sunday. Then back to the 30s come Monday. Typical NC weather.

I'm fixing to spray black paint on the bright, clean, new compressor housings. Something about Black being a better heat radiator than Silver.

At the end of the day, the primaries play into the secondary's intake-dome (I added a 2" or so extension).

Image

It's kinda bothered me that they effectively Dead-Head into the dome.

Image

It took a few hours to cypher what to use to fix that, and then make it work. When I got the dome, I got two of them in case I messed up to start with. I took the second one, and whittled on it a bit and came up with this . . .

Each primary shoots into its respective cold-pipe where 30% is caught by the turning-vane and directed at the secondary's intake (the leading edge of the vane is knife-edged). The dome turns the balance.

Image

In the dome, 30% is provided by the turning-vane, and the balance by the dome.

Image

I guess it's better than the former more dead-head arrangement. :?

Got the turbo cartridges and most of the cold stuff coated. Still got to install a bung for an inter-stage boost sensor in the main cold-pipe, then coat it.

Image

Need to figure out how I'm gonna coat the hot stuff once a bung is installed there for inter-stage drive pressure. In-house, or out-house. :?

Better do it out-house. I'm sure the missus will get upset if you stink up the inside of the house. ;)
