Advise on buying used turbo.

Postby qmikep » Wed Nov 05, 2014 7:25 am

I'm looking at a used he351cw online. It has under 10,000 miles on. Could anyone advise me on questions to ask and things to look for when buying a used turbo?

Thanks,

Mike

Just make sure there is no oil residue... in and out play on the shaft, or side to side play that is so great it allows wheel to compressor contact.

Get pics of the exhaust wheel. The common rail guys like to roast them.

Have them take pictures with the turbine housing removed...with the housing on, a damaged wheel may not be clearly seen...
