Fuel supply idea

Postby ellis93 » Mon Dec 08, 2014 2:17 pm

I've a thought :bom:
I have been thinking on fuel supply pumps for a system I'm building, doesn't matter what for, just need a lot of it. Problem is.....its Christmas time. That means more money is flowing than usual, and i need to do something now.....and no money to do it. So.....I have these supper duty ferd pumps sitting here with nothing to do and no problems with them other than folks wanting them changed because they thought that's what the problem was.(turned out that the fuel sending units screens were stopped up....5 so far this year)
My question here is if I was to run two together, parallel, would that increase volume and pressure? Or could I run them in series, and achieve the same thing for volume but keep my pressure the same?

Give me your thoughts on it!

In series increases both pressure and volume....

Parallel would keep pressure the same, but increase volume potential. Assuming that you are not bottle necking them back into the same size line.... as then you would be increasing the resistance, thus reducing flow.

You say you have 5, so To go with what Eric said you could 4 of them and run series parallel with the ip being dual fed

Why not just dual feed the injection pump with one of those pumps running to each feed? That should supply more then enough fuel I would think for what your doing.

True I could do that, but it would require a other fuel filter, another set of fittings and line. I already have about 100$ in just line and fittings. Plus I want to try and do this differently than what I've seen. It's a curiosity thing :D

The line Im using is 5/8 outer diameter and 1/2 inner, you don't think the flow would be enough in that size for two to work in parallel?

Yes Pete I did 8)

It's the small details I miss....
I only have one 1/2" pipe threaded bung in this fuel tank,it's also diamond plate,so making another around the bottom is a bad idea. I also have no access to a TIG machine either.
I'm assuming that would be a bad restriction in flow for both pumps to pull thru.

Eric, that's friggin' awesome! And it's cheaper than the Sinister one I got! Now I'm pissed.
Not like I really need a dual feed, but if I had it.............
