injectors for 60mm/14cm/Denny-T stage II and 4"exh.

Postby Jelmer » Mon Jan 26, 2015 1:01 am

Currently we are running stock injectors on our 93 5 speed. Upgrades are 4" exhaust, Denny-T stage II pin, 3200rpm governer, starwheel turned down and a BHAF.
We ordered a 60mm compressor wheel with housing and a 14cm² turbine housing.

What injectors should we use with these upgrades? And what elso should we do? timing bump?
Greetings from the Netherlands where there are only 2 or 3 1stgens!

A nice set of 5x12s flowed would be a good combo.

Go ahead and give it some timing....especially if you have a standard trans. Turbo lag won't be an issue with that housing with a stick and to much timing. My truck loved it....now that it's gone,it feels anemic.

Also....Eric might throw rocks at me but....if your pulling a lot, working your truck I'd go with some 7x10s or honed 5x10 tips (210hp p pump injector nozzles). Eric (hungry diesel) had the hone done on the 7x10s for testing purposes and while making them stronger I decided to run the 5x10s to pull with. He dosent like the 7x10s but they will give the truck hell-o-torque and not kill your engine with high egts. I like them and now that they're honed they are going in to the p pump motor in the 82.

What about the heat towing? I've heard more than one person complain.

A Super B and a set of 5x12 VCO have gotten the best all around reviews as a matched pair. That 60 should be almost the same as far as heat.

Your honed 5x10.5 VCO are about now basically a 5x11.5 VCO. 5x12 would be just a tiny bit more.

Oh then "others" pumps are tuned hotter than mine.....cuase these are very manageable in the heat department.

In a 5x12 size, VCO will run better than SAC. 5x12 and smaller, VCO USUALLY gets the vote. 5x13 and larger SAC is my choice.

That also depends on nozzle choice as well (hole count, sac size, etc...)

So which do you recommend RCCUMMINS89?
And what about the liftpump. We have a new, stock liftpump, would this be good enough?

Stock lift pump is barely adequate on a stock truck. I would go with the low pressure high volume lift pump from Eric. I have been running the ebay special Delphi lift pump, but I can pull it down to 5psi with a new filter and the honed 5x11s I got from Hungry Diesel. Genuine Cummins pump is in my near future.....
