Looks like you are on track to building a pin that will control that particular irregular pump of yours. and by irregular I mean the weird smoke issue.

Even with the stop cut out of the pump top you'll never come off the ramp of the m&h pin. I have come close to cutting a spacer out of some aluminum to go between the top and body....like m&h sells.
I'm not crazy,it's doing it

Last year this same truck screwed me after hauling cows by belching white smoke and running off 3cylinders,for no reason other than valve stem seals. Oil + white smoke = stem seals....that didn't compute either, but it happened.

The spacer would help for sure then. Wouldn't necessarily have to be metal, one could probably use a thick piece of rubber, or cut one out of an old head gasket. Well maybe not rubber for really high boost lol.

These are ALL reasons why we stopped using Denny and M&H pins and solely went with BD. Currently in the process of manufacturing our own. The ramp starts significantly higher than even the BD.

I want to know when you have a few ready. I'll buy one just to see what they'd be like.

Message me, and we can discuss options. I'm not taking away from BD's quality and design. It can be improved, but they currently still have the best fuel pin on the market.

Yup, i found the BD pin to have much reduced low end smoke than both the dennyT stg 1&2.

Anyone care to post a pic of the bd pin? I always thought it was just a copy of the old smokey pin, but I don't remember ever actually seeing one.

I'll wait to see what you turn out Eric, I'm not in a hurry or anything for one.
what is the point of grinding the afc foot off??? is that to use more of the pin?? I can't find the thread where they ground it off.

Just for Show & Tell, pics of one while being dialed-in profile wise.

Image

The ramp is too short for the given fuel-pin stroke. This results in additional fueling at idle, as well as it stopping further fuel enrichment before the end of the fuel-pin stroke.

The final adjusted item presents with so much needle stroke that it has the OEM needle go past its O'ring. DOH! :?

The stock/OEM nylon spacer stops that.

Further adjustments would have the cut not be so deep while keeping the ramp placed right (effectively moving the ramp to the right as shown in the image above).

Ends up looking like this . ..

Image

Image

Still too deep though. Nylon spacer fixes it.

Now a days there are better options than grinding the foot. It will give more fuel on a stock pin... but it also gives more fuel at zero boost.

BC..... Yes, there is zero reason to cut a pin deeper than half way. The darn pin doesn't even come out halfway across the bore.
