Check out "92 dodge turbo cummins diesel vs corvette" on utube. That truck runs mid 13's launching in 2nd. No idea what that truck has for a clutch, but I'd want a dual disk for 3rd gear launches, as it'd take some abuse to get it rolling and not bog out.

I could do about three to four launches with my organic south bend single disc before it started feeling weird, is also a nv4500 and was a single back then. Also got less than 35k out of it so I wasn't particularly easy on it.

Damn thats a quick turn over on a clutch! Guess you gotta pay to play. Good to know what to expect though

I talked to both SBC and Valair about clutches for racing. Estimated 600HP on nitrous.

SBC wanted me to do a exotic 13" single. Something like a Sintered Iron with a 4200lbs clamp force. Caveat: Needed a flywheel and clutch rebuild every season. Pro: cheaper up front. (Like $900-$1000)

Valair said NO SINGLES as they heat up too quickly. He has a racing/street triple. It is an 11" triple. Less rotating mass so it would shift quicker than a traditional 13" dual disk. Also it would have been organic faces so more street friendly. However, it was around $2300 at the time. His big pro about this was with all the clutch face available, it can load the engine better with more surface area needing it be heated up before it started burning up the clutch.

I put down 305/615 or 315/605 I cannot remember. Mind you I was not easy on that single at all, it started letting go shortly after I got new injectors. This time around I went Valair ceramic dual disc.

That 11" triple disc sounds sweet! And you said it is supposed to reduce rotating mass and give quicker shifts? (or they say). I estimate my truck at about 350 hp. Really need to hit a dyno to really know. Hopefully my OFEK holds up. Only time I have smelled clutch is when I was trying to build boost by riding the break in second... didn't work too well haha. Any one know Kurt Steiner's screen name from that video mentioned in the post above? Just curious about his setup as if I could make my truck run that good, Id be happy. Especially on a 12mm VE!
