Crower 6 stroke

http://www.ridelust.com/crower-six-stroke/ I thought this was pretty darn neat, found it while doing a little research on flash steaming an exhaust manifold to increase volume at lower rpms.

I' ll have a spare block soon...

What'll I need for a six-stroke 6BTA? Very custom camshaft, an injection pump gear sized so it fires twice per engine revolution instead of thrice per revolution, additional bores in the head for water injectors, and some sort of timing system for the water injection.

Doesn't sound impossible... I imagine the largest downside would be the, what, 30% drop in power and constantly wet oil?

Would engine balance be thrown to hell by the uneven power strokes?

I really have no idea how it would run or work. I'd guess two injection pumps.

I don't think the oil would get that wet, unless too much water was injected. I think the water would be much more finely atomised being injected at 3500+ psi and instantly turning to steam in a 1000+ degree combustion chamber. More likely to wash the cylinder walls with your average 150 psi water injection system on the cold side of the motor on the intake stroke.. You might be right about a loss of hp, but keep in mind steam engines make massive torque, as it provides a longer push on the piston on the power stroke. Crower said the engine was knocking paint off the roof, so it must've had some high exhaust pressure. The injection pump was used to inject the water into the engine, and the single cylinder diesel was converted to gas via a carb on the intake side. (I'd guess it was converted to gas to avoid the complexity of adding another injection pump for diesel, also not sure how well your average gasser motor could handle steam pressure)
