Wont pump oil............... so, yea..... gotta go back to engine shop. As a complete truck, as I'm not pulling it back out.

I know another guy had an engine rebuilt and got it installed just to find out the oil pump wasn't working. I wish I could remember what caused it.

Could be either the pickup tube not put in quite right, or the oil pump not seated to the block properly. I actually had a slight problem with that on the 6.7 I rebuilt recently. Took 2 tries to get the oil pump to go in just right

I have heard of the oil pickup tube not being sealed right and causing a suction issue.

We shall see.......hauling the whole truck down there tomorrow..... hopefully we'll know something at the end of this week.

Sucks not having a single diesel running.

We back in business. Replaced oil pump, and immediately built 12 psi cranking. Bearings checked out ok.

It's home now. And it runs like a sled puller in ten degree weather.

Cracked a few lines while running and a lot of bubbles. Now I've got to track down why it's getting air in the system. To be honest, I'm surprised it is even running with as much air as in the system.

Maybe check the lift pump.
Kidding, good to hear it's running. Now you need to convince yourself to keep it.

It's fixing to get caught on fire. Went and re did all my hose plumbing, fired it up........idled for 30 seconds and KA-BOOM back fired out the intake......and now sounds like a shot gun going off every revolution.

If it's not one thing it is another.

Almost sounded, to me, like it dropped a valve. Engine builder thinks it is a rocker issue. Either way, he is going to try and make it over this weekend to look at it.

These are the reasons, why I pay someone else to build an engine = not my problem.

"My builder" (somewhat of a friend) is very capable, he has built literally hundreds of engines. Even quite a few very high hp sled pulling engines. Things happen, but holy crap... this has been a laundry list of wtf issues since we have put this engine in.

Man I hope it didn't eat a valve. That would suck monkey butt.

Pulled the valve cover this morning. Adjuster backed off, and the bridge fell off.

Need to put a sump in the tank. I've replaced everything, including the lift pump.........and when I crack the inlet to the injection pump.........bubbly/foamy fuel. Apparently the RC is mad at me from making it sit.
