Who sells a good flexplate?

Postby Begle1 » Mon Jun 22, 2015 3:53 pm

I have the double-thick flexplate I bought from PATC about 7 years ago that was too thick to work. I have a non-lock-up 518 that I think has the same bell-housing as the stock 727, with a Goerend non-lock-up converter.

What are my options for flexplates?

Phil at DPC sells a flexplate that is not a billet style...... runs them on 1000+hp trucks. I'd give him a call

You can also buy a bell housing spacer that lets you run a thicker flexplate. I bought mine from PATC.

Dieselperformanceconverters.com. Phil Taylor is the owner, he goes by "slowpoke" over on CompD. Best converter builder in the industry. I've got one of his converters and its great!

I called Phil and asked for a flexplate for a 1st gen Dodge Cummins, he said he didn't have one.

What is it I need to ask for?

? Beats me. I wonder why his flex plates won't work on a 1st gen? Did he say by chance?

Most likely because it's too thick. My brother and I have the same flexplate. His fit fine in his 2001 and mine needed a spacer in my 1991.5.

I guess I'll break down and get a spacer.

Only problem is then I'll probably need to re-do my super ultra custom transmission mount and I might need to get my drive-shaft re-tubed...

I've got one of the solid, non-IC'd flexplates you can have if you want it, Begle.

They made stock solid ones or is this an aftermarket one from somewhere?

I'm so confused... But I'd take it if it's stronger than the stock one I have.

Mine has holes in it...

It's stock, but I just saw your sig says 90. You may have the same thing.

Here's a pic of it, no idea on its strength capabilities.

Begle your mount might still be OK. The spacer I got is only 1/8"-3/16" thick.

You know, that does look like my flexplate come to think of it... I don't think it did have holes.

Maybe the new one I got was what had holes...

I'll get a spacer.
