another question i had is what are the guys running these turbos doing with the solenoid? what are you guys doing to keep the stock wastage functioning and still run 30 to 40psi?

I dont use the stock wastegate, it is tacked shut. Solenoid is removed and hole plugged. (NOTE: a funcioning wastegate is the best option).

You have to remember that the small housing is open (not divided like others) and also a 4" (VS 3" of the stock 1st gen stuff), both of these help it run cool.

If you leave everything on the turbo stock.........you can leave the solenoid alone and the gate will open at 20 psi. Put 12 volts to it, and it'll open at 40psi.

That sounds like the opportunity for a proper Mad Max switch on the gear shift. Stand on it, and when 20 psi is not enough, flip the switch...:)

How does that solenoid like getting hit with voltage nearly continiously? I assume that the thing could be set to open at 30 psi with 6V to the coil?

no, 6v does not equal 30psi unfortunately.

Its a solenoid=20psi/40psi control only (on/off).

Holy crap, I never heard an engineer assume before! You know what happens when you do that, right?

how do you put the 12 volts to it and can it just handle a continuos 12 volts? cause i would like to run 40 psi

Toggle switch. Negative to one wire on the solenoid, positive to the other.

awesome so if i run it threw key power then that could acted as my "switch" correct then i would just be able to make 40 psi all the time. this wouldn't hurt the solenoid correct? if i can do this I'm definitely going with this turbo!

I wouldn't think so. I ran my solenoid that way for a long time.
