I'm telling you.........with a mechanical gauge leave air in the line......it won't bounce at all. With an electronic gauge, you have to use a needle valve. Snubbers suck from my experience and don't do snot.

I went to install the banjo, needle valve, gauge etc last night. Everything was going ok......then I lost one of the compression sleeves :| Not having another on hand, I was going to just close the needle valve all the way and see if it held.

I gave the piston pump a push or two (didn't even turn the motor over) and fuel started coming out of the outlet side of the needle valve....at a fast drip. I had the fuel line loosely attached at the needle valve (just hadn't bothered to remove it as i didn't think the needle valve would leak when closed), and the line securely fastened on the gauge side. Fuel dribbled out of the gauge side to........at literally atmospheric pressure.

I used the thread sealant per permatex, and snugged ( 4 or 5 ft lbs) all the fittings. Anyone have a gander as to what I did wrong?

The needle valve is one of the cheaper ones....

I would suggest not losing compression fittings. It won't seal at all without one regardless of how tight you go.

Sorry I wasn't real clear. The needle valve was passing fuel even when it was fully closed. I only had the line sitting in the outlet of the needle valve because the needle valve was closed, so I didn't think any fuel would come from the valve outlet.

The low/no pressure dribble that made it out of the needle valve and into the line easily leaked out of the gauge-end fitting. The gauge side's compression ring was still intact and present.

Admittedly I was teasing you. Is it possible that needle valve just doesn't ever fully close?
