Turbos, timing, and rpm

Hey guys list fueling, intake, and turbo mods and what rpm your hair dryer lights. Preferably from a dig if you have an auto, and in direct with a ragger

6x13 injectors from THD, BD pin, pump maxed, homebuilt 4 inch intake with afe filter, 63/68/.83 t4 Borg turbo lights around 2100 from a stop IIRC. Built auto with 1700 rpm stall DPC converter

My new set up is a lot better yet, but well..... no confirming on it yet.

Old setup, extrude honed 5x14 injectors (flow similar to a 5x17), 62fmw, 5 speed, 4.10 gears, 37" tires. Hit 55 psi at 1300 rpm on a dyno once in direct. On the street......in direct..... I honestly don't remember, but it was higher. Mainly because I accidentally ran almost stock timing on that dyno.

On that setup, I could change when it light by several hundred rpm with changing timing.

That dyno run. Only about 1/8" timing bump on static, but custom curve..... I had the timing set up for ksb power. I forgot to turn it on. Engine so worn out, I pulled it a few months later. Also found that it had a blown head gasket at this time.

And she's a rip snorting beast, even lacking advance  I bet it was fun on the street with air at that engine speed!

Not to mention 3800 or so rpm at 55 psi on stock valve springs.

I noticed I started getting a lil giddy towards the end of pull......but I bet many a powerstroke have been shut down by that machine.

What do your EGT's get to with low timing like on that run, vs your normal tooth skipped etc?

I had a tooth skipped, but was retarded all the way away from the head. For a long time I've ran such custom timing curve type stuff it isn't cut and dry. My egt varied so much from other things it wasn't a direct comparison. But enough air, and your egt don't sweep as much with timing changes as they do with lesser air.

I need to get me one of those spool valves that shut off the exhaust to one side of the turbo until a certain amount of boost is reached. I've heard more than one report of spooling up 500-600 rpm sooner.

I'll be more than likely putting one on the 06.

I haven't decided yet. S467.7fmw/87/.9 spools great when I get into it. I can just tell that towing light, isn't going to happen. Towing heavy, I'll be into it enough. Unloaded it is ok, as temps may be close to 1250 on hills, but it barely will keep them under all the time. But there will be no way to tow, without being at 2500rpm or more all the time.

Once trans is fixed and back in, I think I'm going to change the o/d lock up point from 48 to about 55. As it is pretty worthless if I'm on a curvy, hilly road where 50-55 is the speed. 1400 rpm locked is not a happy camper.
