slightly off topic vw ve pump question

Postby burnt_servo » Thu Dec 27, 2007 9:59 am

firstly i'll aplogise for this being slightly off topic.... but it is about a ve pump , on a 1990 vw jetta , 1.6 litre .......

anyway here is the question ;

after reading about the pin and cone mods here , can the same be applied to the vw pump ?

did a search yeasterday on google for a few hours and came up with little , very little .......

like the 1st gen dodges , the older vw's have fallen off the radar in favor of the newr models .

anyone here have any experience with vw diesels ?

i'm also curious at what boost pressure i might have head gasket problems .... can the head or block be o ringed ?
i emailed a few diesel places and their responses have been , " we don't work on stuff that old " .

right now i'm running a 2.5 inch exhaust , kn filter and turned the pressure screw up about 3/4 of a turn , and played with the govener settings abit .
running 15 pounds of boost ( up from around 10 ) .
working on a water cooled intercooler when i get some time .

thanks to all that respond :)

the only real difrence between the two is is 4 out instead of a six out, prety much everything else is the same, you sould search for forms on the vws i know there is some and they will be able to help you,
as for boost pressure i couldnt tell you, but you can o ring almost every head.

IIRC, after around 18 to 20 lbs of boost you have to start upgrading things like turbos and heads.
