Anyone, or anyone know of anyone that has tried one of the fixed governor springs like seen in the VW rebuild thread? - http://www.vwdieselparts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6694 After finally reading the VE manual, which I've had for years, I've learned we have a variable speed governor. The other type is a minimum-maximum speed governor. For a competition use/non-daily driver type truck I wonder if it would work or how well it would work etc.
From the VE manual: "The minimum-maximum speed governor controls (governs) only the idle (minimum) and the maximum speed. The speed range between these points is directly controlled by the accelerator pedal....... the injected fuel quanity is directly determined by the accelerator pedal."
I know the truck/tractor pullers use different types of governor setups. If I could get my hands on a VW pump or any pump where this type of governor is used, I would try it out. Looks like one would need to install the tensioning lever (with it's springs), the governor spring assembly, and maybe the throttle lever/control lever from the high rpm VW pump.
KTA, is this governor anything like the ag (RSV) governor? Or act anything like it?
