Time to retune

Postby cougar » Thu Apr 14, 2016 9:17 am

Finally got around to installing the hated 7X.010 injectors in my 92. Didn't have time to do any tuning as it was late and I had to get home. Going for a towing tune like I had on my 91.5.
First thing I have to do it turn up the idle, right now it won't. As it sits, if you get on it even a little it's light out for whoever is behind you. No smoke or haze cruising or at idle. So, I'm going to bump the timing a little, then play with the pump settings for a while. Then back to probably reindexing the throttle lever (if I can) and resetting the idle screw.
RIP 91.5 W250 5 speed. The great experiment.

The truck was bone stock when I bought it. The only things I've already done so far is swap out the turbo to the modified H1C I had (GDS 60mm compressor and 16cm2 exhaust housing) and modified fuel pin. I also turned the fuel screw, but it was only a quarter turn until it hit the collar. Timing has not been touched and injectors were original.

That was mildly entertaining. Reindexed the throttle lever and now the idle is too high even with the screw backed all the way out. I'm within a hundred RPM though. Turned the star wheel up a turn. Made a big difference on the smoke. Takes about 2 seconds to hit 30psi. Throttle is very responsive at cruise speed.

Did some more tuning. Boost up to 35 and less smoke. Haven't touched the timing yet.
