Mack turbo compound

Postby Agentorange » Mon Apr 25, 2016 8:53 pm

I have this turbo off a Mack e7. Supposedly it's a 64/70/1.15 T6. It's labeled as a s300a106. Has titanium wheels. What would be a good candidate for a secondary? Hx35? He351? Or an s200? Or is it not a good primary turbo to work with? I have a high flowing pump and THD lift pump, pin and 3200 spring with a 5 speed d250 non ic

That is quite a small charger to use as a primary. Mostly it's a matter of flow. We generally like to run chargers that flow more than 90lb/min, and that 64 would likely flow in the low 70's which wouldn't give much of a bump paired with an hx35.

S300 frame will be too small for optimum gain.

Ok measured the wheels. It's a 63/71 I'll use it as a single for now. But in the long run would it be good as a secondary. It seems like it's similar to the s363 except the 363 has a 73 turbine wheel. Although it probably has a different exudcer. Can I use a .91 or a .88 turbine housing? Seems like the only ones I see are those two and they accept a 73/80 turbine wheel. Shouldn't be a problem right?

You can get T3 housings cut for that size turbine whee. That large of a wheel and a T4 will be very lazy.

I would suggest a T3, in either a .7 or .8

Would it be worth it to put in a 68 turbine wheel? Only into the turbo for $250. It's in very good shape. Almost no sides to side play and zero in and out play.

how big of a difference does a 63mm comp wheel compare to a 64mm wheel? Same with the turbine wheel (68 vs 71)

Didn't realize it's a 7 blade comp so my measurements weren't right. It's actually a 65 comp and I remeasured the turbine and it's a 70
