Fuel additives

Y'all give your opinions as well as what you personally run. Be it for cetane, mpg or lubricity.

Ran Walmart-special 2 stroke oil for a year or so, now Howe's. Here's the lubricity comparison for those who are interested:

I mainly run B5-20, and going by that eight year old post, that should be more than sufficient for lubricity. Most of the specific fuel stops I use are all biodiesel.

My favorite mix used to be 100 ml of redline diesel fuel catalyst, 100 ml of amsoil cetane boost, and about 1/3 qt two stroke oil. Since B5 came out I haven't bothered with 2 stroke oil anymore. In my experience, or imagination, as the difference was barely noticeable, redline made the engine more responsive, didnt really help smoke. The amsoil made it run cleaner pre/low boost, no difference in power. Mixed together actually made a small but noticeable difference in power. Since I've been running the pee pump I haven't spent a dime on additives, it doesn't deserve it. I like PS gray nowadays for the VE's. A cup full of that does pretty much the same thing as the mix above.

What differences in mpg and power do you guys see in bio?

I usually dump a little bit of everything in the tank.

2 stroke, ps, atf, whatever I have on hand.

I just ran about 15 gallons of new 15w40, 30wt trans oil, mixed with ~ 20 gal diesel.

No doubt there was a power increase. It hazed pretty bad, but the exhaust note even changed, power seemed to come on harder.

Seat of the pants yes. Turbo seemed to light up quicker.

It'd be interesting to run on a dyno with/without oil fuel.

Injection pump was quieter also.

Keep in mind this was 'new' oil. Meaning it hadn't been run through an engine/trans yet...but the buckets had been opened, and sitting outdoors. Wasn't going to dump it in the crankcase.

Filtered, inspected and dumped in fuel tank.

I'm not sure how it compares to waste oil.

Anyone have experience with amsoil cetane booster? I know when I run 2 stroke oil there is more smoke before the turbo lights than when I run actual additives

Really? I barely have more smoke when I run it. I mix it about 1 quart to a tank, and if it's only at 1/2 when I fill up I add 1/2 a quart, ya know? I run the Walmart Tech brand.

I've been running the Stanadyne Performance formula as a lubricity additive, now I see that was a poor choice. Supposedly I can get B20 about 20 miles up the road, next time I have a reason to travel that way I'll take some cans along and mix it down a gallon of B20 to about $20 of dead dino
