14mm ve pump info

Postby 91bluecummins » Fri Dec 02, 2016 2:39 pm

i was wandering if some one can tell me, can a person put a 14mm head and rotor in a ve pump, with out a diesel service shop doing it, or will it have to be calibrated , ive been doing alot of research on these h&r and i would like to get some info on them, in the process of building another truck and its gonna have he351ve over a k31, 5x18 duckys, a1000,fass fuel pressure regulator, sump, nv4500. i would apericate any suggestions, and what fuel pressure should i run the pump with a boost reference at idle and wot, and is there any thing i could do while im in there like different fulcrum springs, or other parts from different pump applications, thank you

I know some people have done it themselves. Not sure how in depth it is though

It can be done at home but the only one making 14mm stuff is Rocken tech and they haven't had good success rates.

Yeah that's what I have heard, if I stay with my 12mm is there some internal things I could do to try to get some more cc of fuel out of it, I can't find much on things to do to it

I never did put it on the truck but 3 things, maybe 4 things.

The first is opening up the fuel inlet. You can go up to 3/8" without wrecking the threads on the inlet. This could reduce a bottle neck if you upgrade to 3/8" or -6AN lines.

2nd thing is opening up the opening for the rod that move the camplate for timing advance. This allows a greater sweep of timing without needing a timing spacer.

3rd is the hole going to the FSS. There is 2 spring pockets. I dont remember what size but I left a thin ridge for the spring pockets.

The 4th is the H&R itself. This is the tricky one. Mark which way is UP or what ever makr you want to make to line it up exactly as before. Press out the sleeve. Now looking down the FSS, you can open the hole in the distribution block. This will get more fuel flow to the H&R. Now press the head back into the distribution block.

Whether or not these help, I do not know but more fuel flow will never hurt. I wish I got the pump on my old truck before I sold the truck and the cannibalized the pump for other people.

There is a way to put in bigger DV's too. stillsmokin on here, no longer active though, tested these and said the were worth it. If you're interested, I can find the info and get it to you.

Yeah I did. Forgot to post it.

Those DV's are from a bosch MW inline pump I got off of a military 8.3. They were then full cut and the spring seat area was reground to VE OD, the OD of the retraction piston guide was also heavily reground to fit into a VE DV body. I wish I could figure out a way to put these out on the market affordably to help support the puller. Jon Link did the work for me years ago.
