Smeding Diesel s300sxe 62/65/14 gated

Hey everyone,

I am looking for some opinions on this turbo on a first gen. I currently have an he351cw installed on my truck but it is on its way out the door. Smeding offers this turbo as a drop in replacement for the 351 and it is a s300sxe 62/65/14 gated housing. Do you think this turbo would perform ok? The price on it is great at only $685. They give the option to get a 12cm gated housing but it bumps the price to $1095. I am currently running stock injectors. Is this going to be waayyyy to much turbo for a stock injector to handle? Please let me know what you guys think.

I've run a 62/65 on my heap. It was OK.

However, I did eventually replace it with a 62/68 to help get it spooling a little earlier.

I didn't know a 12cm gated exhaust housing was available. You may find a 14cm gated housing to be perhaps a better choice as it is a little less restrictive when wound up.

How will that turbo fair with stock injectors?

Honestly, it's been a long time since I've run anything close to stock/OEM but, it should do OK with the typically turned-up VE.

Ok I appreciate the info. It’s by far the most cost effective option I have found so far. I may have to give it a shot.
